In the historical area of Lamu, facing the ocean, Salama house is a 300 year old Swahili mansion, skillfully renovated.
Ideally located, in Mkomani area - the Old Stone town of Lamu, it is within the World Heritage Site, protected by UNESCO regulations.
Salama House is a wing of the boutique hotel Lamu House.
Salama house offers 5 self contained bedrooms, meticulously restored and tastefully decorated, you will enjoy every single detail, which makes each room so different, but the unity of the House as perfect and sober replica of Sultan’s ancient palace. The architecture respects the ancient tradition of building, with local materials, like old coral blocks to keep the house well ventilated, and noble woods following the ancestral tradition of wood carving.
Our guests staying in Salama are ensured of their own privacy in their house, and also benefit of the multiple services offered by Lamu House.
Every bedroom is tastefully decorated, all the rooms are different, and all have their private terraces.
The main court yard offers a plunge salama, with resting area, and dining table for your breakfast or private dinner.
A dhow can be 24/24 at the disposal of our guests, to discover the marvels of the Lamu Archipelago. The vessel is entirely private, and the captain will organize their stay with the guests. The guests charter the dhow, (the cost of food is in addition) they can go for a day excursion snorkeling, a romantic sunset cruise and combined it with a memorable dinner under the stars.
