Dhow Sailing in Lamu Archipelago and the Marine Reserves

Sailing on a traditional dhow, exploring the magnificence of Lamu archipelago and the marine reserves.

Dhows have been sailing along the coast of East Africa for centuries and, until fairly recently, were the principal trading vessel used between the eastern coast of the continent and the Persian Gulf and India.

They are several categories of dhows, adapted to tourism needs, from the large Jahazi you can sleep onboard, to the smaller Mashua-the fast wind catcher for day trips.

A romantic sunset cruise or a day excursion combining historical ruins and snorkelling, a unique experience of sleeping on a luxurious dhow, savouring a fresh caught fish on the beach, Lamu has a long history related to sailing and lots of stories…

Visit the XVI century ruins of Takwa combined with a romantic sundowner
Snorkel in the transparent waters of Manda Toto, Kiwaiyu or Kinyka Rock,
Sail around Lamu island and visit the traditional fishing villages
Dine under the equatorial sky…

Lamu House Rental will advise you and can organize your dhow experience with experienced crew, and dhows adapted to your needs.
